The journey to establishing SoFloBirdsandBeaks began with a personal passion for birds and a recognition of the challenges they face. Many birds, particularly parrots and other exotic species, are abandoned, neglected, or surrendered due to their long lifespans, complex needs, or behavioral challenges. These creatures often require specialized care, patience, and understanding, which are not always readily available. Without intervention, many of these birds face poor outcomes, including suffering, neglect, or euthanasia.

Our rescue is a family-based operation, run out of our home, and rooted in a deeply personal story. The inspiration for SoFloBirdsandBeaks came from my desire to help my disabled military veteran son engage with the world outside his room. Caring for the birds provided him with a sense of purpose and a therapeutic outlet. His journey began with an injured bird that captured his attention and sparked his interest. Over time, this small act of kindness grew into a shared family mission to provide care and sanctuary for birds in need.
